Texas Country with Caution

Dos Amigos

A few days after Greg returned from taking the bar, we went to see Cross Canadian Ragweed (an awesome Oklahoma based Texas-style country band that Tracy introduced us to) in Odessa (Midland's neighboring city) at a place called Dos Amigos. The venue was cool and it reminded me a little of Stubbs BBQ Backyard, in that it is a ramshackle restaurant that's as old as dirt with a lot of history and a back area for concerts and beer distribution.

Before the concert, the area had experienced a deluge of rain, which made for muddy grounds (just a side note, but somewhat traumatic for me and my flip-flopped feet). The bands were good and we enjoyed the company of my brother, my cousin, and his wife. Odessa is sort of a college town with UTPB within the city limits and 2/3 of the crowd was comprised of beefed-up college boys who'd had too much beer and and consequently too much machismo (remember, I live in Texas). Not that having muddy feet was bad enough, but I also had the pleasure of getting a beer sprayed directly into my face (actually, it was meant for my cousin's wife as this fine young gentleman was trying to start/continue a "fight"? with her). This incident occured just after I had spent 30 minutes in the bathroom line where I had the good luck of standing parallel to a fight in the men's line.

Come On, People, can I please just enjoy the show without having to give you the attention you are so desperately seeking in order to prove your "manhood"??? Unfortunately, my visit to to this local venue may be my last.
