A Gushing Post about a Daycare

Geneva's last day of daycare was yesterday (5/31/2012).  When we got the phone call that we had made it to the top of the waiting list two years ago, we had a difficult time deciding whether or not we were ready for group daycare.  Despite our knowledge that this was the very best center in town, we were still nervous about leaving our little with a group of other children.  To say that our reservations were undeserved is a vast understatement.  Instead, the children's center where Geneva attended proved to be an amazingly enriching, supportive, creative, and fun learning and play environment.  We felt like we were being greeted and loved by family every morning when we entered.  Geneva looked forward to every "daycare day" and would often request to go on weekends or on "mommy days."  She would run in to greet her friends every morning and would often protest leaving in the afternoons.  In fact, there were certain times of day that I just wouldn't pick her up because I knew she would be heartbroken to leave during those times.

It was a very difficult decision to make, but she will spend the Summer home with me and baby sister and then start part-time preschool in the Fall.  The preschool she will start is part of the school that she will have the option of attending through high-school.  With the crazy population-boom in our area, we felt like it was the right decision to get her (and therefore little sister) into the school while we have the opportunity.  I realize this sounds a little crazy, but I am not exaggerating the issues this city is having trying to handle the population growth and schools, children's centers, etc do not have expansion plans at this point in time.  Officials are projecting that the population will DOUBLE within the next 8 years!

We will always love and remember the time that Geneva spent at the children's center and hope that one day we will be lucky enough to send baby sister there for a year or two before she starts Kindergarten.

Geneva's first day at daycare when she was 15 months old.  She loved it from the very first day.

This year's end of the year carnival- coincidentally on her 3rd birthday.

A page from the book that her classmates made for her on her last day.

I am going to blame it on the crazy pregnancy hormones, but I have already cried about this again today.
