An article in Time Magazine got me thinking about what and how I eat. Personally, I’d say I’ve been about 1/2 way on the organic, local, sustainable bandwagon, but I think its time I try to do a little better: for myself, my baby, the welfare of animals, and the earth. The difficulty is the cost. I’ve gotten used to paying $6 for a gallon of milk, but $2 for a can of corn when you can get it for $.60 conventionally? Still, the little organic angel on my shoulder reminds me of all the pesticides I would be ingesting.
Another problem: Tyson Chicken. We buy it in huge bags at Sam's for $12, admittedly a ridiculous deal. After doing a little “pecking” (sorry), I have learned that the statement on the bag, “Raised without antibiotics,” is a technicality and in fact, those baby chicken eggs are duped up with all kinds of antibiotics, not to mention the dastardly conditions they live in before slaughter. But of course- they are a enormous company.
Just as I am taking advantage of modern technology as I type this, I am wistfully yearning for the days of past when all beef was grass-feed, chickens were all free-range, and all produce was grown locally and pesticide-free.
I am thinking of looking online for non-perishable organic products in bulk.
Here’s my questions: anyone getting any great deals out there on sustainable/organic products? Comments welcome!

You could all become veggiesaurs like godmother Bethany.
Cheaper to not buy meat and healthier too.
Not too mention the veggie burgers stay in the freezer for quite awhile, so buy in bulk and keep them stored.
