Let’s Pretend

Let’s pretend that the season is fall and we have a party in our backyard that was only comfortable because we are wearing long sleeve shirts and enjoying warm beverages.  The children are ok because they are playing, but when they slow down, we grab their jackets.  We enjoy watching the toddlers jump and giggle and paint pumpkins.  We eat yummy food, drink warmed beverages, and enjoy good conversation.  The seasonal decor gets us in the mood for the start of the Fall/Winter holiday season.

Sounds lovely, right?  Well, actually about 90% of that is true- at least all the most important parts.  The truth is, we hosted a fantastic Fall themed party at our house with some of our friends, neighbors, and ex-coworkers.  There were 6 two year olds and a few older children in attendance plus all their parents.  It was so enjoyable, except one tiny thing- with a high of 92- it felt like summer!  Oh well, time and seasons march on, despite our disagreeable weather.

Here are some snaps from the party.

When I bought these oversized tee shirts from Goodwill, I had a sewing project in mind.  Since I have still not gotten around to that project, they were put to good use as paint smocks for our little pumpkin artists.  By the way- super easy and enjoyable activity for the younger set.  Oh, and tip for the moms!  We went to the newspaper office and asked for discarded papers to cover the tables and they gave us something much better!  They gave us a (large) blank end-roll of paper that will make great coloring/painting/table protection paper for a long long time.

Because of the pool and relatively small yard- there was a bounce house to let the kiddos to jump, fall, roll, and giggle.  Especially fun when parents got involved (sorry no pics).
