I Have a New Way to Walk

(That’s for you, Bethany, and probably a signal that I need a new burned CD from you since that was the last one you gave me :))

Anyway…….

Geneva has just recently become a walker.  Though she had been cruising furniture, standing, walking with support, and even taking a few steps on her own now and again, it wasn’t until about 2 weeks ago (right at 14 months) that she had the confidence and coordination to take off on her own.  Some squeaker shoes and lots of practice seemed to have tipped the scales for her.

<<<Just for my records: She began pulling up to things at about 8 months and then moving along furniture at about 10 months.  >>>

Here are some pictures and videos of the process:

This was the beginning when she first stood up on her own at 11 months-

Here are a few pictures of my parents practicing with her at 13/14 months:

Here she is at 14 months taking her first long string of steps and then a few days later as a walker of short, unsteady distances.

She now walks long distances and no longer crawls at all.  She is tripped or knocked over fairly easily but is improving daily.  At the end of this video, you can hear her say, “uh oh” which one of her new frequent phrases.
