This is the first time Greg and I have had a Christmas tree together and put forth more than the tiniest bit of effort to decorate. In our defense, we have always been out of town for a long stretch around the holiday.
However, we figured that Geneva would like looking at the lights on the tree and we were right. She alternates between just staring at the tree, mesmerized, to reaching for it in an earnest attempt to put some of the ornaments into her mouth. We don’t have a gate around it, but for sure, Geneva will not be left unsupervised in that room since she is rolling and scooting everywhere!
In full disclosure, I must confess that the tree is fake, but not without a good attempt to buy a real tree. But, the problem is that we live in the desert and buying a real tree from the scant selection of trees trucked down from Oregon is a third of the cost of a fake tree, which will last much longer than three Christmases. Greg and I did both enjoy how easy it was to put up and we’ll just have to get our pine forest smell fix when we visit relatives.
We are, however, doing our part this year to support Hobby Lobby stockholders. It is amazing what the lure of “50% off” can do to the wallet.
Here are some pictures of our efforts. Stay tuned for pictures of the outside lights.
