My First Christmas . . .By GENEVA!!!

Dear friends and family,

Merry Christmas!  It’s me . . .Geneva and I’m making my first ever blog post (well with a little help from my Dad).  I know most of you think I’m pretty young to be blogging but I just had to let all of you know about this wonderful thing I just found out about called Christmas!

This Christmas my Mommy and Daddy took me to Illinois to see Gram and Gramps and all Mommy’s friends and family.  Mount Carmel is very far.  To get there I needed to fly on an airplane (however, as most of you know I am very old hat at this).  We flew all day and arrived in Evansville, Indiana (the closest airport to Gram and Gramps).

When Gram and Gramps picked us up they told us we had to hurry because there was a party at their house in ONE HOUR!! FOR ME! I was very excited.  It wasn’t long before lots of my aunts, uncles, cousins and friends arrived to see me.  They couldn’t believe how big I was or that I was beginning to crawl.

That night I was very tired and slept in the next morning.  Mommy and Daddy left all day to go to Evansville to finish their Christmas shopping.  That meant that I got to spend all day with my GRAM!  Of course I loved that!  Gram and I played all day long.  When Mom and Dad got back we went to my Great Grandpa Fred’s house.  Guess what?  More people were there to play with me. Cousin Emily and Cousin Hannah took a particular shine to me.

The next day Mommy and Daddy wrapped presents and I got more good Gram time.  Later that night Mommy and Daddy drove to a place called Lawrenceville (home of Daddy’s favorite Black Jewell Popcorn) to see Uncle Nate play basketball.  They loved it and thought Uncle Nate was a true baller.  Later that night they went to see Aunt Steph and her husband Shawn.  I heard they had fun there too.

Wednesday brought a trip to Aunt Bonnie’s where I got to play with LYLA!  Lyla is a fast crawler but I did my best to keep up.

However, all my crawling made Mommy a little nervous.

The next day it was Christmas Eve.  From all my Mom and Dad had told me I was very excited.  They said a bearded man named Old Saint Nick was going to visit all the good little girls and boys and give them presents that night.  I had been very good and thus expected many such gifts.  First however, we went to church at St. Mary’s, the church I was baptized in.  It was a beautiful service and there were lots of nice songs.

We even saw Aunt Bonnie and Lyla there.

After mass, we went to Grammie and Pa’s for Christmas Eve Dinner.  All of my family was there and they had so much fun with me!  I love me some Wilkinson clan.

After the party I was very tired but I knew that the next day would bring new excitement . . .Christmas Day!

I woke up early and was carried to the tree.  I couldn’t believe all the gifts!  Santa must have thought I was a very good girl.

We spent the day visiting family.  First we went to Aunt Sonya and Uncle Wade’s.  Lots of people were there celebrating Christmas.  I had a blast.

Then later that night we went back to Grandpa Fred’s for more celebration.  When we got there I soon found out it was my cousin Myler’s birthday!  She was 1.  She not only got Christmas presents but birthday presents too.  She was a lucky girl.  It was fun to celebrate with her.

More presents!

By the end of the day I was pooped but I have to say one thing . . .I can’t wait for more Christmas.

The next day we relaxed.  I hung out with Gram.  Mommy went with Aunts Suzanne, Sabrina, Stephanie and Bonnie to a winery.  She loves those girls!  Dad went with Gramps and Nate to see Sherlock Holmes.  I was just glad I could recover from all the Christmas fun!

On Saturday we went to our friends the List’s house.  We had a lot of fun.

As we were leaving something amazing happened.  I heard jingle bells and then a clip clop on the room.  Before long there arose such a clatter and then the door burst open. It was Santa himself.  Old St. Nick!  He told me I was a good girl and then asked me what I wanted for Christmas next year.  I didn’t quite know what to say but I can tell you I’ll be thinking about it all this year.

SANTA!

Ok, I won’t lie and say I didn’t have a few moments of abject terror but when you consider that Santa sees you when you’re sleeping and knows when you’re awake . . .you’d be nervous too!

We spent the rest of the week relaxing and visiting friends and family.  Gram and Gramps and Nate packed for their trip to Cozumel.  Mom and Dad got ready to go back home.

I got some special time with Uncle Nate.

One night we went to Aunt Sonya and Uncle Wade’s for a special dinner.  Mommy and Daddy thought it was delicious!  It had lots of whole grains and veggies and that makes Mommy very happy.

The very last day, Gram, Gramps and Nate left for Cozumel and we were supposed to fly out later to Midland.  However, a funny thing happened . . .Midland got snow and our flight was cancelled!  We were stranded one more day.  Not to fear though because our family was there to take care of us.  In fact, they had a delicious dinner just for us!

The next morning Uncle Wade took us to the airport for our make up flight at 3:30 am.  He took such good care of us and I just love how sweet he is.  I was exhausted but not as exhausted as I was at 5:30 pm when I finally got home.  It was a crazy day of travel.  However, it was worth it when you think about the fun we had.  Christmas is a special time and I loved spending it with family.  I love Gram and Gramps and that rascally Uncle Nate.

To all of my family and all of my friends, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a wonder 2010!

Love,

Geneva
