15 and some change

Things have been a little nutty around here lately, with me starting back to work.  I have been a little short on time to update here, but I wanted to sort of run through an inventory of what Geneva is doing now- at about 15 1/2 months.

Her personality is really coming out, and if it is true that certain things tend to carry throughout life, Greg and I are in for a ride!  I believe Geneva has an extrovert type personality, as she has always perked up, thrived even, on being around new people.  She will go up to near strangers and initiate a smile or funny face in order to make them smile and get attention.  She is pretty happy go lucky, but gets mad! whenever she does not get what she wants or if something is taken from her.  She has been known to throw herself at or headbutt a door that is shut on her.  Speaking of doors- she is learning to slam them early.  About a month ago, she began saying, "no no no no no" whenever she doesn't want something.

Geneva is also becoming little miss independent!  She lately she will completely refuse to eat unless she can maneuver the fork or spoon herself.  Fork, ok.  But spoon?  That one is trying.  Sometimes we have to let her down to roam if we want to get her to eat anything at all.

She is cuddly when we give her milk and right before bed, but otherwise she is generally too busy for affection and has been known to push us away if we are "bothering" her.  The exception is, of course, whenever she wants access to something.  On a few occasions, she has spontaneously offered Greg a kiss order to get past him or get something from him.

She has started using a lot of language and nonverbals to communicate.  She tries to repeat many words, points to things that she wants, and does the sign language sign for "more."  She will imitate the sign and word for "please" whenever we insist on it.  She spontaneouslys points to hers or otheres' belly buttons and says something like "bell-but".  This was her first body part word.  She points to and tries to say "head" and "hair."  She has said "hi" and "bye" for a few months now.  She asks for water by saying "wawa" and also calls (her absolute favorite) watermelon by this name.  She also loves "nana"s for banana.  She calls her milk "ba" (for bottle, even though it is in a transition cup).

She loves loves loves shoes!  She is perfectly content carrying around a pair of hers or another's shoes.  Even better if they are put on her feet and she is allowed to carry a second or third pair.  She absolutely lights up when she has the happy accident of discovering a stash of shoes at someone's house.  If she isn't carrying around shoes, she is using all sorts of things to "talk" on the phone (complete with "hi" and then jibberish).  She also likes looking at books, DANCING, shaking music makers, stacking throwing bouncy balls.

Her "play" with other children is mostly offering things to others.  So far, she is "sharing" pretty nicely.

She has six teeth and seems to be slowly working on more.  She loves to take walks, swing, get into the water, get tickled, play peek a boo, and explore the house and anything new.  She is basically into everything all the time, but she is pretty good about cleaning up whenever we insist and handing me things when I ask for them.

She is 100% toddler- with all the delightful and frightful aspects of that stage.  Sometimes we'll have tons of fun together and then other times an hour will feel like time has stopped- depending on what kind of mood she is in and degree of willfullness.

These are just a couple of random pictures that I have taken on my phone:
